Halloween Countdown 2013 - Scooby Doo Blind Bag Figures

A recent trip to Toys R Us resulted in a very interesting find, the Character Building Scooby Doo figures and build-able playsets. The line is very much like Lego and the parts are mostly interchangeable. The truly interesting thing is the set of blind bagged "Micro-Figures" that featured Daphne and Velma along with some classic modern ghostly adversaries. But... there are also some figures from the company's other line Monsters vs Zombies including the Wolfman, Bayou Beast, Dracula, Frankenstein and Lagoon Monster. The Monsters vs Zombies line has not gotten a release here in the US so this is especially exciting as it is a relatively cheap way to obtain some of the monsters (alas no Fly in the Scooby Doo set)

The line includes a Dracula's Castle set which is more budget priced then the Lego Vampyre Castle and a suitable stand in for display purposes.

I'll be picking up the castle to use for part of the my Lego Monster Museum display and I have plans for the Mancrab mini figure if I can get a hold of a loose Lego Mantizoid head.

Countdown to Halloween 2013 - Monster High Legos?

Well not exactly but Cra-Z-Art a company known for cheap art supplies has a Lego-esque line called Lite Brix with a bunch of glowing black light bricks on the market and three of the sets feature some Lego Friends looking figures that could definitely be students at Monster High under the banner Moonlight Monsters. The smallest and cheapest set is the Ghoulish Glamz with Maia and is a monstrous make up room.

The second set is the Starlight Stage and comes with the aptly named figure Starlet. The set is, as you could probably guess a stage with musical instruments and flood lights.

The third and largest set is Mansion set and is a black light styles Munster House and comes with two figures, one appears to be Maia again but the other is unnamed. I'd buy this set for the headstones it comes with alone, but that's just me.

I'll wind up with all of these sets as my daughter is a huge Monster High and Lego Friends fan and once I do I'll post pictures of them built up.

Countdown to Halloween 2013 - Fun at Target

I'll be honest folks, I haven't been around the ol' Spookshow that much lately as I've been toiling away on Mars Attacks! and Star Wars: A New Hope sketchcards for Topps. But I'm gonna try and keep up with the bloggin for the Halloween countdown here.

Like I said I've been a busy lil' monster lately and I haven't really had to much time to haunt the Halloween aisles yet this year, but I did make it to Target the other day and found some fun things like...

...this cutie here. Frankie here comes filled with some kind of lollipops that are gonna wind up be giving out at my daughter's Halloween/Birthday party while the plastic near life size head ends up in my office. Kinda looks like Frankie from the Groovie Ghoulies to me.

This here is a tub of white cheddar cheese balls colored green and decorated to look like the Frankenstein Monster. Haven't bought 'em yet but i'll end up giving in.

I saw the Target Hot Wheels Halloween pack for this year...... it sucks and I'm not even gonna justify it by posting a picture of the crap.

Target also has a bevy of snacks either pumpkin shaped (Potato puffs that look like pumpkins) or pumpkin flavored (soft breakfast bars) and I'll be reporting on those as soon as I eat 'em.
