Sometimes ya find somethin' just plain weird
During the 1960's, the Japanese company Asahi Sonorama specialized in a unique combination of picture books doubling as record covers, with the audio record inside being related to the main material of course. The subject matter in many I've seen relate to Godzilla, Gamera and Ultraman but then there is this, Kaiju Big Pictoral. Monst of the book appears to be about monsters from various movies including the Triffids, The Bat-Rat-Crab-Spider, the Black Scorpion, Talos and the Cyclops but then there is the original monsters whose story is told throughout the book. I can't read Japanese, I can understand some but that's about it. Looking at the story through the illustrations it seems some explorers find an old Roman ship and unleash an ancient Titan who comes ashore and battles the military before battling a giant Sea Scorpion and a giant Crab Lizard. Woulda made a great Toho movie...
